Preservation Instructions
Yoghurt is produced from pasteurized fresh milk. Pasteurization is essential in order to destroy all pathogenic micro-organisms.
Yoghurt is an acidic product making it easier to preserve. Through the process of fermentation, milk sugar (lactose) turns into lactic acid, which gives yoghurt its characteristic odour and taste and prevents the growth of pathogenic micro-organisms.
Yoghurt, when it remains in its initial packaging, can be preserved in the refrigerator up to the expiry date. From the moment it is opened, it should be consumed as soon as possible.
